What Is Exchange?

The Exchange Club is an all-volunteer service organization of men and women seeking to make a difference in their community. Exchange is a national organization founded in 1921 in Toledo, Ohio. The local Austin chapter was chartered in 1924 - the first Exchange Club to be chartered in Texas. The national mission of Exchange is the prevention of child abuse and other community service projects. Members come from all walks of life and all kinds of backgrounds. We meet Wednesdays over the lunch hour and enjoy informative programs on what is happening in our metropolitan area or topics that are just plain interesting. We produce several fund raising events during the year and also assist other organizations with their events. We are best known for sponsoring and organizing the Zilker Park Kite Festival.

More importantly, Exchange provides members the opportunity to share their talents to help others whether by reaching out to an abused child who needs love and affection, helping to organize a community crime prevention program, or wielding rakes in a clean-up project.
